The membership of Kenosha City Employees Credit Union voted unanimously at a special meeting on January 11, 2017, to merge with Blackhawk Community Credit Union, based in Janesville. As non-profit credit unions, both Kenosha City Employees and Blackhawk have like-minded goals of serving the people of southeastern Wisconsin with affordable banking services and contributing to the community.

“Our objective in finding a merger partner is to create long-term benefits to our members,” said Kimberly Granger, President of Kenosha City Employees. “Blackhawk puts our members first and has respect for the history of our organization.” Kenosha City Employees Credit Union will retain its name, staff, and branch location. The branch is located within the Kenosha Municipal Building and the credit union serves the employees of the city and their families.

“This merger is a partnership. We want to see Kenosha City Employees Credit Union continue to serve its membership as a part of the Blackhawk family of credit unions and we are looking forward to expanding to the Kenosha area,” said Blackhawk’s CEO, Sherri Stumpf.

In addition to this merger, Blackhawk is opening a full-service branch this summer located at 7180 75th Street in Kenosha. For more information, please contact Matt Krauter, SVP New Markets, at (262) 496-7814.
